Schwarzkopf Professional: OSiS+ Refresh Dust Dry Shampoo Review

Before jumping into my review of this product, first I’ll give you a quick description of my hair, and maybe that will give you a great idea of how I fell in love with this product!

My hair has always been dry, almost a straw-like texture. Except at the roots! If I don’t wash my hair daily, I wind up with oily roots that scream to the world that I left the house without washing my hair this morning. But washing my hair daily means beginning the time-consuming efforts and damaging effects of styling, which almost feel like abuse to my already stressed out hair. I’m a chronic heat addict. I blow dry, round-brush, flat iron, curl, you name it, whatever it takes to manage my hair’s cranky attitude. I was cursed with coarse and kinky hair. I serum it, condition it, finger twist it, anything I can do to get it to cooperate.

Anyone who has difficult hair knows it’s a hefty job, and once you finally get there in the morning, you have that one day to walk the world knowing that all that effort paid off, because your hair looks great today! Then your day comes to an end and you tuck yourself in bed, only to wake up and realize, ugh, time to do my hair again. If your hair is like mine, it only takes that one night before oil sets in. It’s not so bad in the morning or early afternoon, but if I didn’t follow my strict hair regimen and start the morning off fresh with washing it, by mid afternoon, I have the “oily scalp” or “dirty hair” look. I’m constantly on the look-out for ways to manage it without the damaging effect of heat styling, but I have no other option but to use heat when starting out each morning with freshly washed hair. THIS is how I fell in love with this dry shampoo.

OSIS Refresh Dust Dry Shampoo is a powder-based dusting product for your hair, used to absorb oil and refresh your hair to give you some extra time between washings. It does have a volumizing effect, which helps lift your hair from the scalp to return it to that “just washed ” look. Holding the can about 8 inches from the root of your hair, spray in short bursts. You’ll see a white powder form on your head and it absorbs with a few finger strokes through your hair. As the product sets in, you’ll see the oil disappear and your hair take on the appearance of clean and already blow-dried hair! From this point, I just kind of finger twist a few strands, as the rest of the length of my hair usually keeps my previous day’s work, and I’m giving my hair a day or two in between heat treatments. The refreshing dust poofs up the roots after absorbing the oil, leaving me with a clean and fresh look, with a pretty smell, after only a few minutes of mirror time, rather than the “start from scratch” efforts we all dread!
Disclosure: All opinions are my own. I received OSiS Dry Shampoo at no cost for the purpose of this review. No other compensation was received
