Malibu Rum Sparkler Review

The weather is warming up and Summer is around the corner. These are the times where lots of barbecues and gatherings will be going on and I'm excited for them all. One thing I like to have with me while either attending a barbecue or hosting one is a delicious cocktail that goes perfect for the weather that everyone can enjoy.

A couple weeks back I had the opportunity to try out the new Malibu Rum Sparkler. One word, Delicious! It's a lighter twist to Malibu’s classic Caribbean Rum flavor but with an infusion of coconut water and hefty carbonation. This is truly a sparking cocktail with a “spritzer” effect of carbonation that almost mimics a champagne.

I really enjoyed this drink and definitely think it's more of a chick drink that will be enjoyed more by ladies then men. This 750ml bottle is 11% alcohol, (so it's not as strong as the classic Malibu Caribbean Rum) and can be purchased at your local LCBO store for $16.95.

The light coconut flavor is perfect for enjoying on a backyard patio during a hot summer day.  I enjoyed this bottle in its original form, but I did find a cocktail recipe that sounds awesome too; I’m anxious to try this one out soon!

NEW Nicole By OPI: Seize The Summer Lacquers Review

Summer is around the corner. The weather has gotten warmer and the sundresses and the flip flops have come out to play. This is one of my favorite things about Summer. The fact that I can easily slip on a sundress and flip flops and be ready to go out for a barbecue or trip to the beach.

I recently had a chance to try Nicole by OPI's latest collection, Seize the Summer! The collection has four bold and beautiful colors that are just perfect for you to wear this Summer.

Lay it on the Lime
This citrusy green is the limiest… and that’s the truth.

LeaPink for Joy
This playful pink makes me jump and shout!

Shaved Nice
Glittering and frosty… this is one sweet treat.

The Coral of the Story
I’ve learned my lesson… nothing but this bright coral for me!

Although all the lacquers are very beautiful, I have to say my favorite has to be Shaved Nice (glitter). Not only is it easy to apply, you don't even need more than one coat. You also can wear it with or without a top coat. I love that it can go with anything you have on and would be perfect throughout the entire year.

Lay it on the Lime (lime green) is very bright ad screams Summer when you put it on. Neon colors are very big right now, this is definitely a great lacquer to wear. It took about four coats for me to get the right shade and look I wanted ,but I was very pleased with the outcome.

LeaPink For Joy (pink) is another color that screams Summer. It's very bold and bright, which works out perfect for this time of year. It took about three coats for me to get the right color I wanted, but I was very pleased with how the look turned out. I would suggest for both the Lay it on the Lime and for LeaPink For Joy that you add this over a coat of white so that it shows up better and so you don't have to add too many coats to get the shade you want.

Lastly, The Coral of the Story (red). Definitely another favorite of mine from this collection. I love that I was able to only add two coats before I was very satisfied with the way it looked. The polish went on very smooth and looked perfect for the warm weather.

Nicole by OPI Seize The Summer Collection will be available starting June 2014. They retail for around $10.99 and you can find them at the following retailers: Shoppers Drug Mart, Walmart Canada, Loblaws, Rexall and London Drug.
Disclosure: All opinions are my own. I received samples from the new Seize The Summer Collection at no cost for the purpose of this review. No other compensation was received.

Two Babies in Diapers, Oh My! #MomTrust

It's getting really close to my new little one being here already, nine weeks! I'm very excited and nervous at the same time. I keep remembering memories about when both my eight and seven year old were babies and how fast the time flew by.

It's been so long since we've had a newborn in the house, I'm remembering now what it was like and all the work and energy it took out of me.  Looking back on how my first experience as a mom was to when I had my second child, I thought I would be a pro with my son. Although I did have some things down when my son was born, the diaper situation was  not one of them. There is a big difference when it comes to changing little girls verses little boys.

My two oldest are 23 months apart. We tried potty training our little girl once I found out I was pregnant so that we wouldn't have two babies in diapers, but honestly, you can't force a child before they're ready. So I was a mom that had two little ones in diapers at the same time. Although it only lasted a couple months before my daughter was potty trained, it still was a lot of work and very expensive having two little ones in diapers.

I would say changing diapers was my least favorite thing to do. My daughter was about six months when we were out in the mall shopping. I went into the ladies restroom to change her diaper. There was a long line, so when I got in there to finally change her, I was rushing trying to get in and out. Well I must have put her diaper on with half of her cheek hanging out because by the time we left the mall and got home I could smell what she had let out. I didn't think anything of it until I picked her up out of her car seat and felt her bum wet through her pants and looked down and saw the entire car seat wet as well. A smelly gross experience I will never forget, I had to hurry up and get her in the bath. Once she was all cleaned it was time to scrub out the car seat. Two scrubs later, the smell didn't seem as bad, but was still there a little. It took letting it air out over night for the smell to completely leave, the same with the aroma in my car. Leaving the windows down for a few hours did the trick.

I'll never rush when changing my child again.

Now, what I learned from my daughter I thought I could apply with my son. You can only do that to a certain extent. Everyone warned me about boys when changing their diapers. Did I listen, of course not, lol. Well it took me a few diaper changes before I got that I need to hurry up, wipe and cover his private part or I would end up with pee on my face or clothes. Luckily with my son, this was the worst that happened. Nothing like what happened with my daughter.

Although changing diapers is my least favorite thing to do, I am excited to have a new experience with my little girl once she's here. Not only will I have two awesome little helpers to help me, but I'll get tons of new memories I'll be able to share. I'm sure a few of them will be about changing diapers.

We all have different experiences when it comes to babies, especially diaper stories, what's some of yours?
Disclosure: I receive special perks as a part of my affiliation with the Playtex Mom Trust program. The opinions on this blog are my own.

May is National Salad Month! (Giveaway)

I can't believe we're almost done with the month of May. Time is quickly flying by and for those of us who made the goal to eat healthier earlier in the year, this time of year can be a bit hard. Well, May is National Salad Month and there are tons of salads you can make to help keep you on the right track to eating a bit better. Get Rid of Damaged Hair with Garnier Fructis Damage Eraser #DamageEraser

Now that Winter has finally left and we're in the middle of Spring, it's time to break out the flip flops, sun dresses, pedicures and make sure our hair is looking good. As a mom, I'm constantly using not only my flat iron every morning to make sure my hair looks decent, but I'm also always using my hair dryer along with my hot comb to make sure it's as straight and flat as it can get.

This is not only a lot of heat on my hair, but it also causes a lot of damage as well. Not to mention that every once in a while I like dying and putting a relaxer on my hair too. With all the different heat and chemicals, no wonder the ends of my hair sometimes look a bit rough.

That's why I was pretty excited when I got the opportunity to try Garnier’s latest hair care innovation from the new Fructis Damage Eraser line. It's designed to help us ladies who use a hair straightener, blow dryer or other heat styling tools on a daily basis so that we don't have to give up on our favorite look. The Fructis Damage Eraser line reconstructs hair strength by 90% from the root of your hair to the tips so that we can still use our styling tools without worrying about our hair getting damaged.

I have to say I was pretty impressed with the line. I got to try the shampoo, conditioner and Strength Reconstructing Butter and the first thing I noticed was that each of the three products smelled absolutely delicious. I love when the hair products I use have a great smell. Another thing I noticed after using was how soft my hair felt after blow drying and how shiny it looked after I was done using my flat iron.

Since going to the beauty salon as a busy mom isn't always an option, I love that I've found a product that not only helps strengthens and reconstructs my hair, but also makes me look and feel good as well. You get the salon look and treatment without the salon price.

Be sure to visit the Garnier website to learn more about the NEW Fructis Damage Eraser hair line and to take advantage of their limited time trial offers.

BLENDED marks the third comedy collaboration between stars Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, following their successful onscreen pairings in the hit romantic comedies “50 First Dates” and “The Wedding Singer.”

After a disastrous blind date, single parents Lauren (Barrymore) and Jim (Sandler) agree on only one thing: they never want to see each other again. But when they each sign up separately for a fabulous family vacation with their kids, they are all stuck sharing a suite at a luxurious African safari resort for a week.

The Best Job In The World..Being A Mom! #NaturallyAtHome

Being a mom can definitely be challenging. There are some days where you just want to hide in bed and hope that the next day is a bit better. But I honestly wouldn't change this experience for the world. There are the hard days that make the good days so enjoyable. There are times where I look at both my kids and see myself in them. It's crazy how that happens and I can't wait for our third child to get here this Summer so I can experience being a mom to a newborn all over again.

Mother's Day has come and gone and I have to say this was a good one. I love that my kids get so excited as they get older. It's like Christmas to them, but gifts for me. They love to help the hubby make me breakfast in the morning and watch me while I'm opening up my gifts from them. It's become a tradition that the hubby gets up early and sets everything up for the kids to help cook, wakes the kids up and me pretend to sleep in longer so that they can wake me up once everything is done.

After breakfast is in our bellies and gifts are opened, I relax with the kids for a bit before we head on over to my in laws where I meet my mother in law and two sister in laws and we sit in the backyard relaxing and let the men barbecue for us and take care of the kiddos. We're served drinks and our food and each hubby brings our favorite desert so that we can enjoy it after our cooked meal. It goes by super fast, but it's such a great day and filled with lots of memories.

Once the day is over everything goes back to our normal routine, but I still feel the love from Mother's Day and appreciate how much both my kids and husband love me. Time is flying by too fast, so I'm enjoying every single day as a mom and can't wait til I'm a mom of three.

Naturally At Home will be expanding and including a newsletter available for all moms to read. It includes healthy tips and tricks that we can all use with a household that has kiddos running around. Be sure to check it out along with following them on Facebook and Twitter!

Playtex DG Activated Carbon Filter Review #MomTrust

It seems like there are new products coming out left and right to make our job as being a parent a bit more easier. I love that Playtex is one of those companies. They just keep coming out with products that help make a different for both baby and mommy.

That's why I was super excited to receive their Diaper Genie Activated Carbon Filter. This filter is designed to lock in odors instead of covering them up with a pretty fragrance. They come in a package that contains one carbon filter case and includes four carbon filters.

This sounds pretty great for me. The last time I used a diaper genie was when my now almost seven year old was a baby and since we have a little one on the way, this filter seems like it's going to make a world of difference when using the diaper genie. I can remember using my diaper genie before in the past and although while closed the smell didn't leak out, but once you opened it to put another diaper in it, the odor was just overwhelming. So I am definitely looking forward to trying this filter out with the new baby once she's here and the dirty diapers start piling up.

One thing I do love about these filters is that they aren't just for your diaper genie. You can use them for just about anywhere. It's great when potty training and I've been using one in the back of my minivan which contains all of my kids soccer and dance attire.

Let me tell you, just one of the filters have been a huge relief to have in the van when traveling back and forth from one practice to another. Not to mention when I carpool and have a few soccer friends and their equipment in the van as well. You simply don't smell anything at all. This has definitely been making our trips a lot more easier. If they can cover up the mask smell of soccer and dance, I'm sure these filters will make a huge difference when using your Diaper Genie.

To find out more about the DG Activated Carbon Filter and other Playtex products be sure to head on over to www.mommyville.ca for more info!

Taking Stride & Sharing Stories w/ Schick Hydro Silk! (@HydroSilkCA)

It's been almost a week since Mother's Day has past us. It was such an amazing day feeling so loved and appreciated by my hubby and kids. Not only did I pick up the phone to wish both my mom and sisters a Happy Mother's Day, but it made me realize how many wonderful women I had in my life growing up and still do have in my life. From my grandmother, to my many aunts and a few different women I have now who I'm lucky to call friends.

My grandmother was a huge part of my life. I got to spend 18 years of my life with her before she passed away (12 years ago) and there is not a day that goes by that I don't think about her or still talk to her when I'm having one of my days where I just want to crawl in bed and cry. She was such an amazing woman who I looked up to. She not only had 13 kids, but she was also a woman who worked two jobs, came home and still made sure her kids were taken care of. Not only did she take care of her kids, but she also took care of those who were in need. I strive every single day to be more like her. She was and still is a role model I look up to.

So, my question to you, my lovely readers, is when was the last day you appreciated a woman in your life when it didn't fall on a holiday? When did you last pick up the phone or tell a woman in your life face to face that she's doing an amazing job being a mom or that she's appreciated and loved?

In honor of all women who take stride in their every day lives, Schick Hydro Silk is inviting Canadians to share stories about the women in our lives who mean the world to us in an online gallery called, Taking Strides, Sharing Stories. The gallery gives women a chance to post inspiring stories about themselves or a woman they know as well as share these stories on their social media pages to encourage others to do the same.

What I love most about this campaign, other then sharing inspiring stories, is that for every story or image shared in this gallery, $1.00 will be donated to a Women's Mental Health Program. Along with the donation being made once you share a story in the gallery, you'll also be automatically entered to win a trip for two to Costa Rica! How amazing is that?

The Taking Strides, Sharing Stories Gallery goes live, May 22nd across Canada, but you can be one of the first to share your story in the gallery now by leaving a comment below sharing your story about a woman in your life. You'll not only be able to see your story once the gallery goes live, but you'll also be automatically entered in our giveaway to win a $40 Schick Prize Pack just for leaving a comment.

I'm looking forward to reading about all the many different inspiring and loving women in your life.

Dove (@DoveCanada) Purely Pampering Bodywash & Beauty Bar Review #PurelyPampering

After a long day of working, getting the house cleaned, running errands and going to and from after school activities with the kiddos, there is nothing more relaxing then stepping into my shower and my busy rinsing the day away. Whether it's a long hot shower or a bubble bath, I am always looking for products that can not only relax me by their beautiful intoxicating smell, but bath products that have me feeling clean and refreshed when I'm done.

That's exactly what Dove did once again with their new Purely Pampering Bodywash and Beauty Bar. As you all know by now, Just Us Girls absolutely loves Dove and all their bath and beauty products. I've been using them for years and with each new product I become more impressed with Dove.

I was recently sent both their bodywash and beauty bar for their Shea Butter with Warm Vanilla Scent and new, Pistachio Cream with Magnolia. I have to say these two scents in both bodywash and beauty bar had me feeling like I was on cloud nine while taking a shower.

I absolutely love how both bodywash lathers up and had me feeling like I was being pampered. Every mom deserves that feeling after a long hard day. Not only did both have amazing smells, but I love how both bodywash has 1/4 moisturizing cream that helps give dry skin the extra nourishment it deserves. Especially after the long Winter we've had, using the Purely Pampering Bodywash from Dove has certainly made my skin feel like Winter was never here.

As for the beauty bar, I was very impressed. I've only ever used Dove's original bar and so trying two different new scents that were from Dove's Purely Pampering line had me excited. Both scents are amazing. The way the bar lathers up on your skin making your skin not only feel soft and smooth, but makes you feel clean as well. Once you step out of your shower or bath, you'll feel like you've just stepped out of a spa, which is exactly what every woman needs after a long day.

You can find out more about Dove's Purely Pampering line over at www.dove.ca. You can also find this line in your local retailers such as Walmart, Shoppers, etc. Bodywash between $4.99-$5.99 and the beauty bar for $5.99-$7.49.

DOVE'S BEAUTIFUL AGE CASTING CALL:

Vaseline Spray & Go Moisturizers Review

Now that Spring is here and we've said goodbye to that harsh Winter we had, it's now time to make sure that our skin is feeling refreshed and hydrated in time for Summer. I don't know about you, but the Winter did a number on my skin, even when putting on my daily lotions. I'm so glad Spring is here.

I was recently sent all three of Vaseline's Spray and Go Moisturizer. They come in three different scents, Original, Aloe Fresh and Cocoa Radiant. What I loved most about using these Spray and Go lotions was that they didn't leave me feeling greasy or sticky and left my skin feeling soft, hydrated and fresh looking.

Another thing I love about these spray and go moisturizers is that they definitely come in handy when you're trying to save time. Instead of pumping out lotion on my hand to apply to my body, using the spray and go lotions directly on my skin saved a lot of time, especially on those days when I'm in a hurry. The spray's dispenses the lotions evenly all over your body, so all you have to do is spray, rub in and be on your way.

A couple of weeks ago when we had one of those really warm and humid days out, my daughter's skin got really dry and needed some type of moisturizer on quick that would help re-hydrate it and using the Spray and Go Aloe Fresh worked great. The spray not only absorbed within a few seconds, it also had her skin looking and feeling hydrated. I've been having both the kids use these sprays after bath time and in the morning so they're skin is completely moistened.

If you're looking for a quick on the go moisturizer that isn't too heavy and works quickly be sure to check out Vaseline's Spray & Go. They can be found at retails for around $6.99-$8.99 a bottle. If you want to give some other Spray & Go products a try check out our review for the St. Ives' Hydration Spray Lotion and Vaseline's Men 24 Hour Spray Lotion, all products from Unilever.

That Awkward Moment Blu-ray/DVD Combo Review & Giveaway

Three hard-partying Manhattan bachelors make a pact to have as much fun as possible while remaining single. The plan gets derailed when they each fall in love, and have to secretly work around their pledge to bachelorhood, while trying to figure out the complications of modern day relationships.

MY REVIEW
The hubby and I were definitely looking forward to sitting back and watching what we thought would be just a hilarious comedy movie. We were wrong. Although there were definitely some funny parts in That Awkward Moment, it was more of a romantic movie. Which was even better. A movie revolving around a group of friends who all vow to be single to help out one of their friends who got cheated on, turns into them all keeping from one another that they are basically in relationships.

I loved seeing each romantic side of each character and how they all opened up to the women that they were seeing. It's definitely a good watch that had lots of jokes that guys would definitely get and understand.  This is definitely an indoor movie date night that couples would enjoy and even if you were watching this movie with a group of friends, everyone has been in their twenties trying to figure out not only life, but their love life as well.

That Awkward Moment will be available on blu-ray and DVD to purchase May 13th!

Devil's Due Blu-ray Review & Giveaway

After a mysterious night on their honeymoon, Zach and Samantha McCall (Zach Gilford, Allison Miller) find themselves dealing with an earlier-than-planned pregnancy. While recording everything on video for posterity, Zach begins to notice odd behavior in his wife that they initially attribute to nerves, but it soon becomes evident the disturbing changes to Samantha’s body and mind have a much more sinister origin. Directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, part of the quartet of filmmakers known as Radio Silence (V/H/S), and produced by John Davis (Chronicle), Devil’s Due utilizes a found footage-style of storytelling to deliver an emotional, character-driven thriller that showcases supernatural scares, and disquieting dread.

MY REVIEW
Last weekend I spent the night cuddled up in bed, popcorn in hand, ready to be scared straight with the newly released horror movie, Devil’s Due. Both the hubby and I are huge horror movie fans. I like to be scared and shocked. The movie really mimics the “found footage” kind of horror film similar to what you’d see in Paranormal Activity or The Blair Witch Project. The storyline is near-identical to Rosemary’s Baby, but with a few exceptions. There wasn't too many big plot twists or surprises but it was a pretty straight forward scare.

OXY Emergency Acne Vanishing Treatment Wipes Review & Giveaway

Throughout the many years, I have used many different acne skin products to help get rid of my acne. Here I am, 29 and still getting acne. It can definitely be frustrating, especially when you think you've found a product that may work and it turns out they don't work that well on your skin.

I was sent OXY Emergency Acne Vanishing Treatment Wipes to try and I have to be honest with you, these seem to be the best wipes I've used so far to help with my acne. These wipes are the only medicated wipes in Canada that are clinically proven to kill acne bacteria on contact and quickly help heal acne blemishes. They unclog pores quickly removing dirt, oil and dead skin letting the oxygen through to help your skin breathe and keep bacteria away. The alcohol free formula on the wipes prevents over-drying while the oil free moisturizers help relieve redness to your skin due to dryness.

The packaging is the first thing I love. The fact that I can just throw these in my purse and take them with me to use just about any where when I need them is definitely a plus. The size comes in handy, especially being a mom on the go. When I opened the flap only one wipe came out which is very useful as you don't have to worry about the wipe drying out or wasting more than one wipe. The wipes have a slightly rough texture and are surprisingly small; each one is only about a quarter of the size of a piece of facial tissue.

I've been using them once in the morning and once in the evening and I am very happy that I have found a product that vanishes early signs of pimples and horrible acne. After washing my face in the shower as I do on a regular basis I just used the wipe on my face, paying special attention to my forehead and chin since I’m most prone to breakouts in these areas. Afterwards my skin feels refreshed and actually clean like there is no built up of dirt.

I would definitely recommend these wipes for any of you out there that are like me with bad acne. Not only do they work really well, but they are very affordable retailing for $7.99. To find out about more Oxy products be sure to check them at on their website.
