Smart is the New Cool: Streaming Project Mc2 on @Netflix_CA #StreamTeam #SmartGirl

My daughter loves exploring her creativity. Whether it's through fashion, science or musical, she is one ten year old who loves being herself and sharing her unique-ness. So when I heard about the latest series from Netflix, I just knew she would love it. Project Mc2 focuses on four super-cool fierce teen spies who show how girls can use science smarts and math problem-solving to save the world, all while looking cool doing it, without sacrificing their individuality.

We sat down to watch the show together and had so much fun doing so. With a few snacks, we snuggled on the couch and watched season one back to back. We both loved the show. Although we are still craving more since there are only three episodes out, we hope to see more added soon.

I loved how this show inspires young girls of all ages to want to learn more and have fun while doing so. To see a show targeted to help encourage girls to want to learn more and to be themselves while doing so is amazing.

Project Mc2 shows that girls can do anything that boys can and also how you can still be cool even while having fun learning. After watching the show, my daughter pulled out her Sceince Kit she received a couple years ago and started experimenting, which I thought was great. If this show can inspire girls to want to learn more, I'm all for it.

Not only did the show inspire my daughter, but after watching the show, she received a pretty cool gift in the mail, a Project Mc2 doll. She was really excited to receive the Adrienne doll because like the character, my daughter loves to work on different science experiments.

Streaming now on Netflix, Project Mc2 is definitely a great show for young girls to watch that motivates girls of all ages to be themselves and that you can still be cool when learning.

In Equestria, being true to yourself is the key to earning your cutie mark. But staying true to yourself is just as important! It's all here in Cutie Mark Quests!
MY REVIEW
We are huge fans of the My Little Pony series in this house. I've been a fan ever since I used to watch the original shows when I was younger. My oldest daughter who has just turned 10 has and still does love the ponies that helped taught her about the importance of friendship. So now that I have a new little one who just turned one, all three of us got together and watched the latest DVD, Cutie Mark Quests. Although my one year old was playing with her toys most of the time, there were moments, during the catchy sing-a-long songs where she paid attention all while shaking her booty.

In Cutie Mark Quests there are five episodes. We really enjoyed watching each episode as we see our favorite ponies visit a village where everypony has given up their cutie mark. It's a shock to the ponies as in Equestria, each pony tries really had to earn their mark by being true to themselves. I absolutely loved watching this with my girls. Not only does it bring back memories, but I love how much the show teaches kids to be themselves and how to be a good friend.

Cutie Mark Quest is now out on DVD. You can find out more about this DVD along with other My Little Pony DVD's at www.shoutfactory.com, as well as follow them on Facebook and Twitter.

Luckily, it's summer, so watching a few episodes a day was possible. She let me know that the Lightspeed Rescue Rangers had quickly become one of her top favorite Power Rangers. Yummy Nummies Review

Every kid loves to help cook in the kitchen. From the time my little girl was able to walk, she's been my little helper. Both my older two love helping me in the kitchen, whether it's baking cookies or making homemade pizza, if it's something they can help with, they're willing.

I was pretty excited when I received a package from Yummy Nummies. I had heard about them by seeing my kids watch a few YouTube videos of their favorite you-tubers reviewing them, so I knew they would be excited to try them out for themselves.

Yummy Nummies are candy, snacks and meal making sets that comes with everything kids need to create no-bake, realistic tasting mini food. We received three different box sets, the funetti spaghetti maker, chix mini nugget maker and the gummy goodies maker.

Each set comes with everything you need and the instructions were pretty easy for both my eight and ten year old to understand and follow.

They didn't really need any help creating their mini meals. It was pretty cool to watch them as they put together all the ingredients the for their meal by themselves. They both loved that mom was only there to watch.

Within minutes all their meals were made and gobbled up. They had so much fun with the Yummy Nummies makers. They're already asking for more. It was so great to not only watch my kiddos create their own mini foods, but I was also shocked by how cool each maker turned out.

There are tons of different makers to try. From cookies to donuts and pizza makers, Yummy Nummies has lots of mini foods for your kids to make and explore their chef side!

Prices vary depending on which maker set you buy. For more information on Yummy Nummies be sure to head to www.rptoys.ca.

Swimways Avengers Dive Characters Review

Warm weather is in the air. My family and I have been enjoying summer so much, it's so hard to believe that it's almost over. Although we don't have a pool at home, we do find lots of ways to cool down without one. But on the occasions where water guns and sprinklers aren't enough, we make our way to our aunt's house and take a swim in her pool.

Along with some of the float toys she has for the kids to enjoy while they are in the pool, my son was pretty excited when we received Swimways Avengers Dive Characters. He's at the age where he's loving super heroes. It so happens that the heroes from the Avengers are some of his favorite. So he was thrilled to bring these dive characters with us to the pool.

Swimways Avengers Dive Characters include The Hulk, Ironman and Captain America. They're great to play pretend in the pool to expand your child's imagination. They're also great to play out of the pool as well. They're soft and flexible and allows your child to play with their favorite super hero in or out of the water.

My son loves to swim under water and now he can bring his favorite super heroes under the water with him. Although he did wish the set included Thor, he was pretty excited that he had most of The Avengers to now play with in the pool. These dive characters would also be great for kiddos in the bath too.

The Swimways Avengers Dive Characters retail for retail at $17.99. For more information be sure to head to www.rptoys.ca.

Buzz Bee Water Warriors Colossus 2 Review #SummerToys

It's hot outside. I mean, hot. From the time we get up in the morning til the time we head to bed, summer sure has been showing off these last few weeks. I am not one to complain about it. I refuse to because with the hot weather means lots of time for us to spend outside with family and friends and enjoying the warm days before winter is back.

Over the last few weeks, we've had some awesome weather. My family and I have been enjoying lots of time outside. From laying out in the sun, to having water fights, we've been enjoying this nice weather and soaking up every bit of it before it goes away.

So I was pretty excited when we received the Buzz Bee Water Colossus 2 water gun from RP Toys. My kids love to have water fights, with balloons or guns, so when we received the Water Colossus 2, I knew there would be lots of water gun fights going on.

This water gun is pretty awesome. The kids had to both take turns using it. With the three adjustable nozzles and an easy pump, your kids would love to have this water gun to play with this summer. It also has an air pressure performance that shoots up to 40 feet. Needless to say, the winner of the water gun fights between my two older kids was always the one who had the Colossus 2.

A great water gun to have to keep cool this summer, be sure to pick this up before the warm weather goes away. Retailed for $20, for more info on the Buzz Bee Water Warriors Colossus 2, be sure to head to www.rptoys.ca.

Dreamwork's Home Blu-ray Review

When Earth is taken over by the overly-confident Boov, an alien race in search of a new place to call home, all humans are promptly relocated, while all Boov get busy reorganizing the planet. But when one resourceful girl, Tip, manages to avoid capture, she finds herself the accidental accomplice of a banished Boov named Oh. The two fugitives realize there’s a lot more at stake than intergalactic relations as they embark on the road trip of a lifetime.

MY REVIEW
This was such a great movie to watch. The family and I sat down and had a movie night a few weekends back. Since we had just received Home on blu-ray, we were all excited to watch it. We didn't get a chance to see it in theatres, so my kids were pumped to watch it. I have to say, this was a great movie. Boov's aka Aliens taking over Earth and kicking the humans out of their homes so that they could get away from a bad guy trying to hurt them. Or so they thought.

In the movie we meet both a Boov named Oh and a girl named Tip. Tip is the only human that's left once the humans were all relocated. She was separated from her mom and now wants to find where she's at. Oh is a Boov that makes lots of mistakes and is also someone that most of the other Boov's try to ignore. When he makes a small mistake sending out a blast email that was sent to every Boov, including the Boov's enemy, he is now a fugitive from the other Boov's.

Oh and Tip meet and together try to help Tip find her mom and clear Boov's name. This crazy adventure leads to an unlikely friendship.

This movie was not only funny, but when Tip is reunited with her mom, both my daughter and I couldn't help but tear up. Such a great movie for the entire family to watch. If you're looking for a great family movie to watch this summer, be sure to add Home to your movie collection. It's now out in stores on both Blu-ray and DVD.

Disney's #Descendants DVD Review

In a present day idyllic kingdom, the benevolent teenaged son of the King and Queen (Beast and Belle from Disney’s iconic “Beauty and the Beast”) is poised to take the throne. His first proclamation: offer a chance at redemption to the trouble-making offspring of Cruella de Vil, Maleficent the Evil Queen and Jafar who have been imprisoned on a forbidden island with all the other villains, sidekicks, evil step-mothers and step-sisters. These villainous descendants (Carlos, Mal, Evie and Jay, respectively) are allowed into the kingdom to attend prep school alongside the offspring of iconic Disney heroes, including Fairy Godmother, Sleeping Beauty, Rapunzel and Mulan. However, the evil teens face a dilemma. Should they follow in their nefarious parents’ footsteps and help all the villains regain power or embrace their innate goodness and save the kingdom?

MY REVIEW
Disney has done it again, with another great hit that tweens and teens will love. We had the opportunity to review Disney's Descendants and it was such a great movie. My daughter and I had already seen it live the night it came out on TV, so once we got the DVD we were excited to watch it again, plus watch the bonus features.

The movie is about the teen kids of the most famous villians, Cruella de Vil, Maleficent the Evil Queen and Jafar. After the four villians were banished away to the Isle of the Lost for there evil doings by the King and Queen, Belle and The Beast, years later, their teenage son is about to have his coronation to become King and one of the things he wants to do is allow the kids from the four villains a chance to leave the Isle of the Lost they're stuck in and come to prep school where all the hero's kids attend.

From beginning to end the movie has you dancing and singing along to the catchy songs. Not only was the songs and dances great, but as was the story line. The main thing we took from the movie was you don't always have to follow your parent's foot steps. Some times it's okay to go a different way, especially if it makes you happy. My daughter has been singing all the songs from the movie for days now and we can't wait til part two comes out! Disney's Descendants is now out on DVD in stores.
