Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw Blu-ray Review

Ever since hulking lawman Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson), a loyal agent of America's Diplomatic Security Service, and lawless outcast Shaw (Jason Statham), a former British military elite operative, first faced off in 2015's Furious 7, the duo have swapped smack talk and body blows as they've tried to take each other down. But when cyber-genetically enhanced anarchist Brixton (Idris Elba) gains control of an insidious bio-threat that could alter humanity forever--and bests a brilliant and fearless rogue MI6 agent (The Crown's Vanessa Kirby), who just happens to be Shaw's sister--these two sworn enemies will have to partner up to bring down the only guy who might be badder than themselves.

MY REVIEW
I remember watching the first Fast and Furious at the movie theatre when I was a teen. I absolutely loved it and it's crazy to think that after 18 years of the original movie, it's still going and the fandom is huge.

When we were introduced to both Hobbs and Shaw in previous movies, I was a complete fan, so when I saw that they were starring in a spin-off movie, I was excited to watch it because I'm a huge fan of both Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham and in previous movies their characters weren't the best of friends, so I was pumped to see how this movie would play out.

In the beginning we see both Hobbs and Shaw working together, not willingly, to get a virus from Shaw's sister, but before they can do that she is taken hostage by the villian in this story, Brixton Lore, played by Idris Elba, who plans on using the virus to commit global genocide. As they try to work together to stop Brixton the two men are also trying to work through their differences along the way.

With both Hobbs and Shaw going back and forth with snarky comments towards each other, it really brings a bit of comedy in this action film, which is very entetaining. Even if you haven't watched previous Fast and Furious movies you could watch Hobbs and Shaw by itself since this spin-off has nothing to do with the other movies except for the two characters being in the previous movies and not liking one another.

I really enjoyed the movie and the action scenes in the movie were amazing, but I would expect no less with both Johnson and Staham playing lead as they are both known for pulling off great action scenes. If you're looking for a great action packed movie with a bit of comedy, I'd highly recommend giving Hobbs and Shaw a watch.

Hobbs and Shaw is available today, November 5, 2019, on both blu-ray, DVD and digital for purchase.
Disclosure: All opinions are my own. I received Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw on blu-ray at no cost for the purpose of this review. No other compensation was received.
