The Lion King Blu-ray Review

Disney’s “The Lion King,” directed by Jon Favreau, journeys to the African savanna where a future king is born. Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny. But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub’s arrival. Scar, Mufasa’s brother—and former heir to the throne—has plans of his own. The battle for Pride Rock is faught with betrayal, tragedy and drama, ultimately resulting in Simba’s exile. With help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his.

MY REVIEW
I remember watching the original movie and absolutely falling in love with the story-line. I can say the same for the remake of The Lion King, I cried with this remake almost as I did for the original. This was such a great movie that my family and I enjoyed from beginning to the end.

I'm always sceptical on remakes, it seems they're popping up everywhere, but I have to say I absolutely loved this one. Way to go Disney and everyone involved. I especially loved that James Earl Jones was still the voice of the beloved, Mufasa. The remake does a great job capturing the original animation, but also brings in some new scenes to the movie that, in my opinion, worked well for this generation.

Not only were there new scenes added to the remake, but also new songs as well, which I thought was fitting. If you're a die hard fan of the original movie or if you are going to get easily upset that scenes and/or songs were added or removed, this may not be for you to watch. From what I've seen in the last few Disney remakes is that they're trying to relate the classics we grew up with to this generation and what's going on in today's society the best way they can. So far I haven't watched a remake that disappointed that much to make me hate it. The Lion King is now available on blu-ray, 4K UHD and DVD today, October 22 from Disney Studios!

Disclosure: All opinions are my own. I received The Lion King on blu-ray at no cost for the purpose of this review. No other compensation was received
