In 1996 Leo Johnson and Elana Rosenfeld started experimenting with different products to make the perfect coffee. They did so in their garage in the Rocky Mountain town of Invermere, B.C., Canada. In 1998 Kicking Horse Coffee signed with Transfair and began spreading awareness and demanded fair trade coffee by Canadians. In 2003 they made the decision to start purchasing and roasting 100% certified organic coffee beans. And by 2008 Kicking Horse Coffee opened their first cafe. A year later in 2009, Kicking Horse Coffee celebrated a 13th straight year as Canada's #1 selling Organic Fair Trade Coffee! Kicking Horse Coffee is available in retails throughout Canada and the US as well as on their online store and on Amazon.
(I may be a little biased) but I'm beyond proud to call this a Canadian product! I'm a coffee lover, so my senses were already excited just by reading the packaging, and I can certainly say this product meets every expectation. The solid aroma of the beans grinding (even before brewing) is heavenly, and the flavour of the coffee itself is absolutely delightful.
I tried the Kick Ass (Dark), which is so appropriately named because this coffee really does kick ass! The coffee is certified organic, and it comes in eco-friendly packaging. The price range is fair, and the taste is absolutely gourmet!
