Disney's Maleficent: Mistress of Evil Blu-ray/DVD Review & Giveaway

In Disney's "Maleficent: Mistress of Evil," a sequel to the 2014 global box office hit, Maleficent and her goddaughter Aurora begin to question the complex family ties that bind them as they are pulled in different directions by impending nuptials, unexpected allies and dark new forces at play. The years have been kind to Maleficent and Aurora. Their relationship, born of heartbreak, revenge and ultimately love, has flourished. Yet the hatred between man and the fairies still exists. Aurora's impending marriage to Prince Phillip is cause for celebration in the kingdom of Ulstead and the neighboring Moors, as the wedding serves to unite the two worlds. When an unexpected encounter introduces a powerful new alliance, Maleficent and Aurora are pulled apart to opposing sides in a Great War, testing their loyalties and causing them to question whether they can truly be family.

MY REVIEW
In our house we do Disney, big time! We absolutely love watching Disney movies for our family movie night, so when we received Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, I knew we'd love it just as much as we did the first movie. Now although I didn't expect there to be a sequel to the first movie, my family and I were happy to see some of the characters we love back on screen. We sat down together, grabbed some of our favorite snacks to munch on and started the movie.

I thought the story-line to Aurora's wedding to Prince Phillip was done well and of the two kingdoms merging, but then you see the real agenda behind Queen Ingrith. She wants revenge against the Moor's fairies for the death of her brother when he visited Moor years ago and does so by turning the humans against the fairies and starting a war. Michelle Pfeiffer does an amazing job playing this evil queen. I am loving this new spin on Maleficent and how Disney is trying to portray her as misunderstood and have someone else be the "bad guy."

Not only was the movie great, but we loved the bonus features that included extended scenes and outtakes from Aurora's wedding as well as the CGI in this movie, it's beautiful.

In celebration of the release of Maleficent: Mistress of Evil coming out on blu-ray and DVD today, we have teamed up with Disney Canada to offer one of our Canadian readers a chance to win their own copy of the movie. All you have to do is comment below sharing with us who your favourite Disney villain is. Good luck to all!
