MY REVIEW
If you are a parent of a tween/teen and your kids use to watch the children's show, Dora the Explorer, you definitely need to watch Dora and the Lost City of Gold. This was such a great family movie to watch. My two teens were pretty excited that we had the opportunity to watch the movie and that we were sent an adventure kit that included the movie along with a purple backpack, binoculars, compass, a whistle, flashlight and a couple of totes to carry them in.
Before the movie started my twelve year old son commented, "Wouldn't it be funny if they started off the movie like they did the cartoon?" We all laughed, but he was totally right! The movie starts off with both Dora and Diego and the infamous Dora the Explorer theme song. But as that ends and her parents bring the two kids back to reality, we see that this was all in six year old Dora and Diego's imagination. In fact, it's both kid's last adventure together for over 10 years as Diego and his family are moving out of the jungle and to Los Angeles, California.
As we're brought to the present, we see that Dora is a teenager, still going through the jungle on her cray adventures and her parents, who are explorers, tell her that she is being sent to stay with her cousin Diego's family as they are going on an adventure to find the Lost City of Gold and she can not go with them. Next thing we see is Dora at Diego's house and both teens attending high school together, but Dora has never been to school with other kids. She only knows the jungle and her adventures, so throughout the movie we see her talking to the audience and to others as if this was her cartoon series. It's hilarious and so funny as her cousin Diego and other kids at the high school are looking at her like she's lost her marbles.
When Dora can't reach her parents for their daily check in, she knows something is wrong, so it's up to her, Diego and a couple classmates to help find them. As she heads back to the jungle with her friends, it's up to them to save her parents. Along the way we see some familair characters from the tv show, like, Boots and Swiper the Fox.
This was such a great family movie to watch. It kept us entertained, we laughed throughout the entire movie and it got my teens loving Dora all over again. Dora and the Lost City of Gold is now out on digital and will be available in stores on blu-ray November 19th!
This is definitely a must watch and I'm so excited to partner up with Paramount Pictures to offer one of our readers, US and CANADA, a chance at winning your own copy of Dora and the Lost City of Gold on blu-ray!
